Finasteride Tablets is a medication used to treat conditions like male pattern baldness and benign prostatic hyperplasia. It is also prescribed to reduce the risk of developing an enlarged prostate. The active ingredient in Finasteride isProscar. Finasteride works by blocking the enzyme 5-alpha reductase, which is responsible for converting testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is implicated in the development of male pattern baldness, an enlarged prostate, and benign prostatic hyperplasia. However, the exact mechanism by which Finasteride inhibits DHT is unknown. This study investigatedFinasteride Tablets (Paliar, MS) for the treatment of male pattern hair loss.
Methods:A single-arm, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical study was performed. Patients with male pattern hair loss were randomly assigned to Finasteride Tablets (Paliar, MS), which were administered for 1 month. The study was conducted between April 2015 and March 2016. Finasteride Tablets were administered once daily in both the Finasteride Tablets and placebo groups. Participants were followed from start to end. Safety and efficacy assessments were conducted for both Finasteride Tablets and placebo groups. Finasteride Tablets were well tolerated and had a significant reduction in the incidence of recurrence of hair loss and an improvement in the overall rate of hair loss over the 6-month study period. The study was stopped early after a total of 11 (9/14) participants (3 in Finasteride Tablets and 4 in placebo) discontinued Finasteride Tablets due to adverse events. There was no statistical difference in finasteride Tablets and placebo groups in the primary end points (n=15). The study was stopped early after 11 (9/14) participants (9/14) discontinued Finasteride Tablets due to adverse events. Safety and efficacy assessments were conducted for both Finasteride Tablets and placebo groups in the Finasteride Tablets group. A total of 9 (9/14) patients (8 in Finasteride Tablets and 2 in placebo) in the Finasteride Tablets group had an active finasteride Tablet (1.4% and 0.9% of the finasteride Tablets group, respectively) and were treated with Finasteride Tablets (1.4% and 0.9% of the finasteride Tablets group, respectively). These patients were followed for a total of 26 (20/26) months. Finasteride Tablets was well tolerated. There were no significant changes in the hair loss pattern. There was no significant change in the hair loss and scalp hair. There were no significant changes in the hair regrowth pattern at this dose of finasteride Tablets in the Finasteride Tablets group in this study.
Results:The number of participants in the Finasteride Tablets (Paliar, MS) and placebo (Paliar, MS) groups receiving Finasteride Tablets was significantly lower than that in the placebo group (n=14, n=14, vs. n=14, respectively). There was no significant difference between the Finasteride Tablets and placebo groups in the hair loss pattern (n=8, n=8, vs. n=9, respectively). There was a significant reduction in the number of participants in the Finasteride Tablets (Paliar, MS) group (n=8, n=8, vs. n=7, respectively) in the 6-month study period.
Conclusions:Finasteride Tablets were well tolerated and had a significant reduction in the number of participants in the Finasteride Tablets group.
